This week we will be making backgrounds with marbles. I have no idea who thought this one up (love their creative mind) but Gina K. has a fabulous video showing us how to do it. You can find her video here: Making a Background Using Marbles. In her video she uses re-inkers, but if you don't have any (I don't) you can substitute it by directly applying the ink pad to the plastic container, or using watercolor markers spritzed with water, even food coloring will work. Use what you have and have fun with it.
In my first card I applied Gina K's Red Hot and Prickly Pear ink pads directly into a plastic container.
Here's a close-up of the background:
For my second card I used Spectrum Aqua markers, applied one color at a time and spritzed with water. The effect is more subtle and just as pretty
I used three colors: Bud Green, Sunflower and Sunset.
For both cards I used the Fabulous Frame stamp set, then cut out the band portion. The Red Hot card stock it's stamped with Red Hot ink, then I filled in the lines with Spectrum Noir CR8. The Prickly Pear is stamped with Prickly Pear and colored in with Spectrum Aqua Olive.
All supplies used can be found in Gina K's online store (except for the Spectrum Noir and Spectrum Aqua markers):
Card Stocks: Pure Luxury Red Hot and Prickly Pear
Stamps: Fabulous Frame and Frame Fillers
Gold flower: Stately Flowers 3 colored with Spectrum Noir GB1, GB5, CT4, DG2 and CG1
Red flower: Especially for You Duo colored with Spectrum Noir CR11, CR10, CR4 and DR7
Background for first card made with Gina K. Red Hot and Prickly Pear inks
Background for second card made with Spectrum Aqua Markers: Bud Green, Sunflower and Sunset
I hope you try this technique, it truly is fun and easy. So come on over to StampTV to join the challenge. Who knows, you might be the winner of a $20.00 gift certificate to Gina's online store.
I will also be entering this card in Mod Squad Challenge.
'Til next time. Have a wonderfully creative week.
