Snowglobe Shaker Card

Hi everyone. I'm back again to share with you my latest card.  Ever since I bought the Holiday Frame stamp set illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K. Designs, I knew I wanted to try my hand at making a shaker card with it. I looked at a couple of how-to videos and found that I liked Kristina Werner's video the best because she also gives some really good tips.

I first planned out the shaker portion of the card, used a 3.5" circle die to cut two circles, one from acetate and the second from heavy weight card stock.  Stamped the trees with GKD Christmas Pine ink and colored with Copic YG61 and added "snow" with a white pigment ink pen. The background is colored with Copic markers, I really didn't want to have to mask the trees and then added snow with the white pen.  I placed two-face foam tape around the perimeter of this circle following Kristina's instructions, added snowflake sequins and crystal glitter then adhered the acetate circle. Yay, it worked!

Once the hard part (for me) was done, I stamped the Holiday Frame and snow globe base using my MISTI (works every time).  Cut the opening, stamped the snowflakes and greeting, colored the base and outline with Spectrum Noir markers and then attached the shaker part. After adding the ribbon I adhered the whole thing onto GKD Heavy Base Weight White cardstock. Of course I had to add just a bit of bling and snowflake sequins.

I love how this card came out, my thanks to Kristina's easy instructions, and I hope you like it too. I'm entering this card: StampTV December Release Challenge and the Mod Squad Challenge.

Materials used:
GKD Heavy Base Weight White card stock
GKD Holiday Frame and Christmas Joy stamp set (snowflakes)
Inks: GKD Christmas Pine, Red Hot and Blue Lagoon; Memento Tuxedo Black
Markers: Background - Copics B37, B34 and B32; Trees - YG61.
Base - Spectrum Noir EB5 and TN7
Crafter's Companion Essentials Circles Dies
GKD 3/8" Red Gingham Ribbon
Uni-Ball White Pigmenk Ink Pen
Wink of Stella Clear

Thanks for stopping by.  Until my next post I wish you warm hugs and blessings.

Christmas Tags

Hello. Come and join us over at StampTV where I am hosting this week's Mix-It-Up-Monday (MIUM) challenge. Can you believe Christmas is just 13 days away! I'm sure everyone is busy, busy, busy, so we're going to keep things nice and simple. Let's make tags: big, small, holiday, birthday, fancy, simple, you choose. Make a tag (or tags) and just have fun with it. Tags are a great way to use up those scraps.

I made these with my scraps:

Gina K. supplies used:
Card stock: Kraft and White Layering
Stamps: Music Background, Holiday Frame, Holiday Basket (Small Poinsettia) and Home Is (From our House with Love)
Gina K. Inks: White, Red Hot, Christmas Pine, Blue Lagoon, Kraft and Charcoal Brown

I hope you come by and join in on the fun. Have a wonderfully creative week.

Latina Crafter Sketch #65

Hola!

Happy Holidays

Hi everyone. This is Thanksgiving week and I am sure everyone is busy getting their home and traditional recipes ready. Whether you are preparing to host this annual meal or to travel to join family members, let's remember that it's not just about the food, it's really about the people who surround us on this special occasion. So enjoy one another and be safe.

I want to share two cards with you today. The first is a one layer CAS card.

For this card I used Melanie Muenchinger's Holiday Frame stamp set. It's such a beautiful and versatile set, easily paired with her other sets. Perfect for mass producing, especially if you use a stamping tool like the Misti. I am entering this card in this week's CAS challenge over at StampTV and Mod Squad's Ribbon Challenge.

My second card is a little more elaborate, but oh so fun to make. I'm in love with coloring, it could be with pencils, markers or water colors. For this card I used Hollyberries digital stamp by Power Poppy by Marcella Hawley. Colored them then fussy cut, added a tiny dot with a white gel pen which made the berries just pop. It's the first time I heard of Power Poppy, they're a new sponsor over at Mod Squad Challenge blog, they have beautifully illustrated stamps and digis. You should check them out. I am entering this card in the special challenge over at Mod Squad Challenge.

Materials used:
Card #1:
Gina K. Pure Luxury White Heavy Base cardstock
Melanie Muenchinger's Holiday Frame
Gina K. Christmas Pine and Red Hot inks
Memento Rich Cocoa ink
Pentalic Olive Watercolor Pencil
Green ribbon and bling from my stash
Silver gel pen

Card #2
Gina K. Pure Luxury Prickly Pear card stock
Jupiter Red card stock for mats
Starstream White Pearl embossed with Sizzix Holly Embossing Folder
Power Poppy Hollyberries Digital Stamp set
Red ribbon from my stash

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hugs & Blessings

Thankful Joy Fold Card

Hello. Come and join us over at StampTV where I am hosting this week's Mix-It-Up-Monday (MIUM) challenge.

The challenge is to make a Thankful Joy Fold card (repeat this 3 times real fast and you'll be saying Thankful Joyful). This is a fun and easy card to make, great for using up those beautiful pattern papers we like so much. There are many tutorials on making this fun folding card on YouTube and Pinterest. You can make it for Thanksgiving or just to say Thank You.

To make this card I cut card stock 7-3/8" x 4-1/4" and scored it at 2". This makes the 2" panel, then your card will measure 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (regular A2 size easy for mailing). I cut another piece 6" x 3" and scored that at 3". This is the top 3" square.  Cut two pieces of pattern paper measuring 1-3/8" x 4" and 5-1/8" x 4" (front panel and background). I ran the 3" square through my Sizzix using one of Spellbinders Nestabilities Gold Squares One Enhancing Elements then sponged the edges with GKD Blue Lagoon. The sentiment is also stamped using Blue Lagoon.

For the inside of the square I cut a square piece of paper 2-3/8". Sponged the edges with Blue Lagoon and added a small strip 2-3/8" x 1/2" of the same pattern paper. This card comes together very quickly making it very easy if you want to make many.

Materials used:
Card base: White Pearl card stock (my stash)
Sentiment: Gina K. Frame & Flowers 1
Inkpad: Gina K. Blue Lagoon
Pattern Papers: Gina K. The Simple Things paper pack
Spellbinders Nestabilities Enhancing Elements Gold Squares One
Buttons (my stash)

I hope you come and join us over at StampTV. I will also be entering this card in this week's Mod Squad Challenge hosted by my friend Donna Phelan.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next post, I wish you a wonderfully creative week.

Hugs & Blessings.

Gold Christmas

Hi friends. I'm having fun with gold foil and gold embossing powder. Today's card is for this week's Mod Squad Challenge "Go for the Gold".

I used Melanie Muenchinger's Holiday Frame and the poinsettia from her A Year of Flowers stamp set.  This could very well be a one layer card, but I wanted some dimension so I glued the layer to fun foam before adhering to Gina K's Heavy Weight White card base. The poinsettia is embossed on vellum then colored on the back with White Prismacolor coloring pencil. I prepared three Poinsettias this way then fussy cut two of them and layered them to get even more dimension.

I'm sharing another card I made for this challenge and for Sean's challenge over at StampTV. This one has gold foil and gold embossing. I'm definitely going for the gold here!

The focal image is from Gina K's Sparkling Christmas and the sentiment is from Holiday Frame; both are gold embossed. The foiled frame is an image sheet from Gina K. (I think it was an incentive). I adhered this layer to Jupiter Red card stock (from my stash) then on to Gina K. Prickly Pear card stock.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Way We Were Challenge

Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a card I made for this week's Mod Squad Challenge.  Judy Woodland and Vicki Dutcher are hosting this week's "The Way We Were" challenge. We are to choose one of our old creations and CASE ourselves. Use a favorite card and put a new twist on it.

I chose to CASE this gatefold card because they're fun to make and it's a great way to use your pattern paper:

This is my new card:

The pattern paper is from Gina K's Sparkling Christmas StampTV kit. The poinsettia is from Melanie Meunchinger's A Year of Flowers stamp set. I stamped it three times, colored with Copics, fussy cut then assembled the layers to give it some added dimension. I was inspired after watching Vicky Papaioannou's video.  I used Clear Wink of Stella to give it some glitter and added rhinestones.

Here are the materials I used:
Pearl Shine card stock for the base
Neenah White card stock (for Poinsettia)
Gina K. Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus for the mats 2" x 5-3/8" (2) and 3" square
Gina K. Sparkling Christmas Pattern Paper 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" (2)
A Year of Flowers
Clear Wink of Stella

Thanks for stopping by, til next post.

Latina Crafter Sketch #64

Hola!

Abrazos y bendiciones.

Gift Box & Tag

Hello friends! It's a rainy day here in Puerto Rico, perfect for staying indoors and play around in my craft room.

Today I have a gift box and tag project that I will be entering in this week's Mod Squad ABC Challenge (Anything But a Card).

To make the box I used Stardream Metallic Lagoon card stock with it's beautiful sheen (surplus from my son's wedding invitations). Started with two 7-1/8" squares and scored it using The Ultimate Crafter's Companion box making section and quickly put it together.
I die cut and embossed the Poinsettia with Spellbinder's Layered Poinsettia  set on Shine Pearl card stock then sponged it with Gina K. Designs Blue Lagoon ink. Once it was all dry, I pinched the bracts to give form and dimension before layering and gluing. For the small "snowflakes" I cut the smallest layer and stamped it using Festive Poinsettia stamp set from JustRite also using the Blue Lagoon ink then adhered them to the box sides.

For the tag I first used Gina K's Christmas Joy stamp to make a background by repeatedly stamping "Love was born on Christmas" with Blue Lagoon ink. The MISTI is so helpful to align the stamp. I used the Festive Poinsettia stamp for the top layer. I first stamped off on a piece of scratch paper to get a lighter shade of the Blue Lagoon Ink, then stamped the smallest poinsettia. I stamped the To, From & Merry Christmas from the same stamp set with Gina K. Red Hot ink. I think this set came out very pretty. I used the jingle bells for the picture, but I think I'll add one to the tag.

List of materials used:
Stardream Mettalic Lagoon card stock
Shine Pearl White card stock
Spellbinder's Layered Poinsettia
JustRite Clear Festive Poinsettia stamp set
Gina K. Designs Blue Lagoon Premium Dye Ink Pad
Gina K. Designs Red Hot Premium Dye Ink Pad
Ribbon from my stash

I hope you liked my Anything But a Card project. Thank you for stopping by. 'Til next post.

Hugs & Blessings.

Sending Love

Hello. Come and join us over at StampTV where I am hosting this week's Mix-It-Up-Monday (MIUM) challenge.

This week we are CASEing one of our Design Team Members, Karen Hightower. She creates beautiful cards and keeps us inspired with her Friday Funday challenges. I love Karen's style and creativity. Her layering and card layouts are fun to duplicate and a great way to learn how to use patterns.  This is the card that I chose to CASE:

Here is my card:

I kept the same layout and used the same Kraft card base and sentiment, but changed the images and color.  Karen has a fun tutorial to make this card.

I paired the sentiments with the snowflakes because I had someone in particular in mind when I made this card. Christmas is a beautiful time of the year (as the song says), and yet for many it's also the most difficult time of the year. Especially for those who are grieving the loss of a dear one.  We have a family friend who has to bear the loss of her two sons. Everyday she lives a parent's worse nightmare, times two. I can't begin to imagine what she feels but as someone who has lost a dear one so recently, sending Love and Peace might be a good way to let her know we are thinking of her during this difficult time.

Materials used:
Gina K. Pure Luxury Kraft card stock
Gina K. White Layering weight card stock for rectangles: 2 x 5-3/8 and 2-1/2 x 4-1/4
Lagoon card stock (my stash) for the mats:  2-1/8 x 5-1/2 and 2-5/8 x 4-3/8
Gina K. Winter Whimsy Pattern Paper: 4-1/4 x 2  Mat: 4-1/4 x 2-1/8
Gina K. Blue Lagoon ink pad
Gina K. stamp sets: Christmas Joy and Sending Love
Versamark Ink
Ranger Clear Embossing Powder

For a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Gina K. Designs online shop, come and join us; the hardest part will be to choose from all the beautiful cards Karen has in her gallery.

Thank you for stopping by, until next post.

Winter Wings

Hello there! Happy day to all.

Today's card is for this week's For the Birds challenge over at Mod Squad Challenge Blog. This card is a one layer card using Fabulous Frame and an image from the Winter Wings stamp set (I think this one is retired).

On Gina K. Pure Luxury Kraft card stock I stamped the frame and focal images with Versamark, then heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White embossing powder. I colored the image with Prismacolor coloring pencils: White, Sienna Brown, Dark Brown, Light Cerulean Blue, True Blue and Indigo Blue. The sentiment is from the Frames & Flowers 2 set, stamped in Memento Paris Dusk.

This is it for today, thanks for stopping by.
Hugs & Blessings.

Happy Birthday, Mom

Dear friends, today would have been my Mom's 81st birthday. She passed two weeks ago at home surrounded by her loving family. I like to think she's now in Heaven dancing with my brother Joe, and all her loved ones that passed before her; God is smiling because His daughter has come back to Him. Mom was a small woman, a woman of prayer and great faith. That's the legacy she leaves us, the reason why we can face losing her. She is survived by her husband, six children, 19 grandkids and 18 great-grandkids (I hope I didn't leave anyone out).  She faced life and her illness with a bring-it-on attitude. Always prepared for what may come, and in doing so, she prepared us. She's missed by so many and we know she will forever live on in our hearts.

To honor her I made a birthday card inspired by Karen Hightower's "Faux Torn Edge Technique". Even though I didn't have a chance to play along with her weekly challenge over at StampTV, it will count for their Yearly Challenge.

Materials used:
GKD Pure Luxury Innocent Pink card base
White Layering weight
Versamark inkpad
Black Embossing Powder
GKD Innocent Pink ink
Memento Bamboo Leaves
Versafine Onyx Black
Stamp sets: Flowers and leaves - Better with You
Happy Birthday greeting - Frames & Flowers 2

Thanks for stopping by, until next time. Hugs & Blessings.
