Coastal Blessings

Happy Monday everyone!  Hope this week had a good beginning. I had a pretty good day, considering that Monday is not exactly my favorite day of the week. After a lot of rain this weekend, today was a gorgeous sunny breezy day. Good way to start the week. As I was putting the finishing touches to my card, I still hadn't decided what sentiment to use. Out of nowhere, (God breeze?) I remembered I had the perfect stamp. All day today I felt blessed, you know the feeling you get when your in tuned and you feel like someone whispered the greatest secret for happiness. That's the sentiment!

For this week's Mod Squad Challenge, we were to make a card with a coastal feel. You can read all about the challenge here, and while you're there look at all the wonderfully creative cards they have entered. I looked through my stash and saw that I don't have any beach themed stamps, except for some very small shell and starfish stamps from the Basket Additions 2 stamp set designed by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K. Designs. I stamped out various images using GKD Kraft ink, colored with Copics EOO, cut them out and glued them to the Floral Wreath. I also stamped the Floral Wreath with Kraft to give it a light and airy feel. I then used BG32 and BG34 for the flowers and YG61 for the leaves.

The sentiment is stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa. I used Gina K's Kraft cardstock for the card base. The pattern paper is from my stash which I scored to give it texture and it looks like old planks of wood. The picture doesn't pick it up, but it looks really nice.

This is all I have for today, until next post, have a wonderfully creative week. Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs and blessings.

Masculine Birthday Two

Hi again,

I had a chance to make another card for the Mod Squad Challenge.

For my second card I used the Triple Time Stamping technique. Instead of stamping, I used a pattern paper from Gina K. Designs Season's Greetings paper pack. I offset each layer with Powder Blue cardstock. The sentiment is from Gina K's Wild at Heart stamp set. I then added some silver brads and a white ribbon. This is a great card for a birthday in the winter time.

I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by. Until the next post, have a wonderfully creative week.

Hugs and blesssings.

Masculine Birthday

Happy Sunday everyone! How quickly the weekend goes by when you're having fun! I managed to make some cards and enjoy my baby twin sisters' 50th birthday. While one sister is nearby the other one is now living in California. Twins have such a special and wonderful connection. I know they wished to be together to celebrate this milestone, yet there's no doubt they were together in heart and spirit. And thanks to technology, we were able to Skype at least to make a toast and wish them both many more happy birthdays.

This week's Mod Squad Challenge calls for masculine cards. This is a good challenge, since for me it's so much easier to make a girlie card. For this card I used the emboss resist technique. I first stamped the clock-face image (I don't know the name of the stamp set or the company) onto white cardstock with Versamark ink, applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed. I then sponged with three Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Peeled Paint, Stormy Sky and Frayed Burlap.  I did the same with the sentiment. I wiped the image with a paper towel to remove any excess ink and reveal the white cardstock. I mounted this layer unto another white cardstock added baker's twine and a button. I adhered this layer to Gina K's Fresh Asparagus card base.

This was a fun card to make, I like this technique because you get a slightly different look every time. Hope you like this card. Thanks for stopping by.

Regreso a la Escuela/Back to School

Hi everyone. Have you seen Latina Crafter's new competition Coloring with Latina Crafter? This looks like a fun contest where you can practice coloring images using any method you like. You can read more about this fun contest here. I think I'll be buying more Latina Crafter stamps with images to color so I can play more often, LOL!

Today I made a tag that can be used as a bookmark. I used the church from the set "Mi Bautismo" and converted it into a school. I used Spectrum Noir markers DR1, BGR3 and Black to color the school. I printed an alphabet and numbers practice sheet and distressed it with Frayed Burlap distress ink. I also used the set "Sellos Postales".

Espero que les guste. Hasta la próxima.

Hope you like it. Til next post.

Paper Pieced Christmas

Hi friends and happy Sunday. I hope you've had a good weekend and are ready to face the new week. I had a nice one, made my first Christmas card for this year, visited my nephew's newborn baby boy, great to see the family still growing, and played in the pool with my youngest grandson. I'm pretty much ready for bed, but wanted to get this post ready.

For today's card I am combining stamps from Latina Crafter and Gina K. Designs. The card base is Gina K's Pure Luxury Fresh Asparagus and the pattern paper is from her Merry Little Christmas collection. I stamped the focal image from Latina Crafter's Feliz Navidad set and colored with Copics. The hat and vest are paper pieced with Gina K's Garden Tour pattern paper. The sentiment is from Gina K's Merry Tree set. This card will be entered in this week's Mod Squad Challenge.

Hope you like it. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderfully creative week.

Happy Birthday Blues

Happy Saturday my friends.  Today we are waiting for Tropical Storm Bertha to pass by and grace us with some much needed rain. We hope and pray that the rain from this storm will be enough to alleviate the water shortage we are experiencing and the impending water rationing plan. Unbelievable, we're surrounded by water, but there's a water shortage. Hence, our wishes that Bertha will make it rain, rain, rain.

Today's card will be entered in the "I've Got the Blues" challenge over at Mod Squad Challenge Blog. It's really a color challenge where we are to use the colors Blue, Brown and a neutral color.  The card base is Gina K's Heavy Base Weight White cardstock. The brown layer is Tan Leather, a textured cardstock that has been (sadly) retired. I love this cardstock because it looks like leather, especially when you use a distressing ink, here I used Vintage Photo.  I stamped Melanie Muenchinger's Fabulous Frame on Powder Blue cardstock (also from Gina K) and heat embossed using white embossing powder. I cut out the section that looks like a belly band and adhered it to the Tan Leather, this way you can appreciate the leather-like texture.

The image I believe is from a Cardmaker's Kit of the Month (Nature's Beauty), that I stamped, fussy cut and adhered with pop dots. The sentiment is from Gina K's Birthday Duo set, also heat embossed. I really like this blue and brown combination. Hope you do too.

Here's a close-up to better appreciate the texture.

I didn't forget that I had a blog-aversary in July and that I wanted to do something special. Life keeps getting in the way and I haven't been able to organize it. But I will, and will let you all know when I do. Have a wonderfully creative day!

Hugs and blessings to all.
