Latina Crafter Sketch #33

Happy Sunday everyone!  In Puerto Rico we are enjoying warm temperatures and sunny skies, perfect day to go to the beach.   I stayed indoors though, and enjoyed playing around with my stamps and papers and created a card using Latina Crafter's stamps and sketch.

The focal image is the angel from Latina Crafter's Mi Bautismo stamp set. I stamped the image in Rich Cocoa brown and paper pieced the dress, added Diamond Stickles to her wings and halo. I made the flower using one of Latina Crafter's flower dies from their Mi Flor Favorita set.  Hope you like it.

Abrazos y bendiciones, hasta la próxima.

Hugs and blessings, 'til next post.

Mod Squad Color Palette

Happy Monday everyone!

Today's card will be entered in this week's challenge over at the Mod Squad Challenge Blog. The challenge is to make a card (or other project) using the color palette they posted. The colors I chose are black, white, purple, green and red.

I stamped the flower from GKD Stately Flowers 7 stamp set on vellum with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I did the same thing with the sentiment, which is from GKD Celebrate the Season. Using Spectrum Noir markers, I colored the flowers from behind in purple and green for the leaves. I scored lines and added the red ribbon. The card base is GKD Black Onyx. I think the color combination is an elegant combination with very subtle coloring suitable for celebrating any major life event.

That's it for today, thanks for stopping by. Hugz and blessings.

Another Gina K Guest DT Challenge

TGIF everyone!  I'm sure everyone is ready for some weekend crafting!

Today I have two cards to show you. I am entering both in Gina K's April Guest DT challenge. This first challenge is to make a card with a Spring theme using any technique from among Gina's videos on Stamp TV.  It wasn't easy choosing a technique since there are so many wonderful videos to choose from. So  I decided to make two cards using two different techniques.  For my first card I chose to work the Retiform Technique, better explained and demonstrated on Gina's video here.

Here's my card:

This technique was more fun than I thought it would be. I can't wait to try other color combinations.

The materials used:
1. Gina K Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White for the card base.
2. Jelly Bean Green card stock
3. Ivory card stock (from my stash) for the retiform layer
4. Stamps: Stately Flowers 6 & 7, Autumn Leaves, Celebrate the Season and Happy Birthday Duo
5. Tim Holtz Distress Inks Peeled Paint & Wild Honey
4. Memento Rich Cocoa

For my second card I chose the Distress Embossed Pattern Paper technique. You can see Gina's video here. The distressing on my card is very subtle but there, the embossing shows very nicely on the pattern paper. I think together they create a beautiful Spring card. The butterfly is stamped on vellum paper and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Here's a close up.

The materials:
1. Gina K Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White for the card base.
2. Bubblegum Pink card stock
3. Petals & Wings pattern paper embossed with a Cuttlebug Folder and distressed with Memento New Sprout
4. Sentiment and butterfly from Stately Flowers 7
5. Pearls and baker's twine

It was such a pretty day today that I decided to take pictures of my cards next to my flowering bougainvillea plant. Here's hoping it gets warm wherever you are.

Have a wonderfully creative weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Mod Squad Challenge Thinking of Spring 2.0

Happy Saturday!

Today's card is for the Mod Squad Thinking of Spring 2.0. I know everyone is wishing for Spring to hurry up and begin so that warmer temperatures can finally break the brutal cold of this Winter. For the Mod Squad crew this couldn't be any truer, they want it so bad that they're hosting a second Thinking of Spring challenge, LOL! I guess they're hoping that if everyone just puts on their thinking caps (or creative caps) and visualize Spring it will happen. Something like the story of the Little Engine that Could --if we all say it together --well you know the rest. I'm taking advantage of this second chance because I made a card for a StampTV challenge (Double Border) with a Spring theme with the intention of entering it in both challenges, but I forgot to check the deadline so I was a day late. Oh well, as the grand kids might say, my bad, LOL!

Here's my first card for this challenge. The background is sponged with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. The flowers are from Gina K's Celebrate the Season stamp set, colored with Spectrum Noir markers and added a small rhinestone in the center -just the right touch of bling. The yellow gingham ribbon with a double bow says Spring is here!   The card base is Gina K's Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White, layered with Lemon Drop cardstock and the sentiment is from her Happy Birthday duo.

For my second card I used Spellbinder's Cherry Blossoms die, sponged with Tim Holtz Forest Moss (branches) and Spun Sugar (flowers), added a touch of yellow in the center and adhered it to Echo Parks's pattern paper from the Here & Now Collection by Lori Whitlock. The butterflies are from Stately Flowers 7 set stamped in Gina K's Kraft ink and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Autumn Leaves stamped in Memento Black and cut using Spellbinders Floral Ovals. The card base is Gina K's Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight layered with Fresh Asparagus.

This all for me today, thanks for stopping by. Hugz and Blessings.
